Oral presenters

Oral presentation slots are 15 minutes: 12 minutes presentation + 3 minutes discussion.

On-site presenters

You can NOT use your own computer! Please bring your presentation PDF or Powerpoint file (NOT Apple Keynote) to the presentation computer on a USB-A drive in time before the session starts – the earlier the better! If you bring a Powerpoint file with special fonts, don’t forget to embed them! Alternatively, you can upload your presentation file to our filedrop server (link and instructions were sent to authors by email) no later than Sunday, 26th of September.

The viewing experience for remote participants is improved if you have a presentation in the aspect ratio 4:3 instead of 16:9 but this is not mandatory!

Remote presenters

All remote participants and presenters will be in a Zoom session. For your presentation, we will ask you to share your screen and present from your own computer. We would like to ask you to also switch on your webcam. As a fallback solution in case of technical problems, we also ask you to upload your presentation file (PDF or Powerpoint) to our filedrop server (link and instructions were sent to authors by email) no later than Sunday, 26th of September.

We were also asked if it is possible to submit the full presentation as a pre-recorded video in advance. We would prefer it if you give a live presentation, but we also allow the submission of a pre-produced video file (see upload details and deadline above). Please use a widely playable video file and codec format and keep an eye on the file size! If you decide to choose this option, you still have to be online in the Zoom session for the discussion after your presentation!

Pico presenters

Pico presentations are grouped together by topic. Each presentation is only 2 minutes long. After a block of several presentations, there will be time for a group discussion with approx. 3 minutes per presenter.

On-site presenters

You can either give a live presentation or play a pre-recorded video file of 2 minutes. You can NOT use your own computer! Please bring your presentation PDF or Powerpoint file (NOT Apple Keynote) or the recorded video file to the presentation computer on a USB-A drive in time before the session starts – the earlier the better! If you bring a Powerpoint file with special fonts, don’t forget to embed them! If you go for the video option, please use a widely playable video file and codec format and keep an eye on the file size! Alternatively to bringing your files, you can upload them to our filedrop server (link and instructions were sent to authors by email) no later than Sunday, 26th of September.

In addition to bringing/uploading your video file, you can also upload it to a video site like YouTube and link the video in the marketplace of our conference platform for other participants to watch beforehand. This is optional and here are the steps to do it: go to https://silvilaser2021.b2match.io and log in > click “Marketplace” in the top menu > “Add an Opportunity” > “Poster”.

Remote presenters

All remote participants will be in a Zoom session. However, you as a keynote presenter will receive a Microsoft Teams meeting link. This meeting will only be used to get your shared screen and webcam image to our video operator, from where the signal will be brought into the Zoom session and onto the screen on-site.
